Dereck Lively Injury Update

WEB Mavericks Dereck Lively II gets positive injury update, but there's a catch

Lively was taken to the locker room after receiving a knee to the back of the head

As Dallas and Minnesota vied for a berth in the Western Conference finals, a scary moment occurred when Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II was forced to leave Game 3 with an injury.

Fortunately, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Monday morning that tests on Lively's neck came back OK, but his availability for Game 4 is still in question.

WEB Coach Jason Kidd didn't have an update on Lively after Dallas' 116-107 victory for a 3-0 lead, but Game 4 is Tuesday night in Dallas, so the Mavericks will need to make a decision soon.

Lively was taken to the locker room after receiving a knee to the back of the head from Minnesota's Jaden McDaniels with 4:33 remaining in the third quarter. He did not return to the game, and the Mavericks went on to win without him.

The Mavericks have been without several key players due to injuries this season, including Luka Doncic, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Maxi Kleber. Lively has been a key contributor for the Mavericks in the playoffs, averaging 10.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

If Lively is unable to play in Game 4, it would be a big blow to the Mavericks. However, the team has shown that it can win without him, and they will be hoping to do so again on Tuesday night.
